October 27, 2023 | Cowboy Cross Country & Track
THE BASICS
Oklahoma State cross country enters the postseason each ranked inside the top 6 for just the second time in program history. Both the Cowboys and Cowgirls have been ranked in the top 3 throughout the season until last week and are looking to defend their back-to-back sweeps at the Big 12 Cross Country Championships this Saturday in Ames, Iowa.
Â
Run it Back
The Cowgirls begin postseason action with one of the most talented rosters in program history. All-Americans Taylor Roe, Gabija Galvydyte, Molly Born and Billah Jepkirui will attempt to defend their back-to-back Big 12 titles. Jepkirui already has an event win at the Cowboy Jamboree and was named Big 12 Runner of the Week for her performance.
Â
The Cowboys enter postseason play with some star athletes making their season debuts this weekend. All-Americans Alex Maier and Fouad Messaoudi will make their season debuts, joined by Kenyan teammates Denis Kipngetich, Brian Musau and Cowboy All-American Victor Shitsama. The OSU men have won three straight conference titles on the grass and 12 overall during Dave Smith's tenure.
