Miyamoto Wins Jackson 15k Title

JACKSON, Tenn. – Ayumi Miyamoto defeated her Oklahoma State teammate Lucia Peyre in the singles final of the ITF Jackson 15k pro circuit event in Jackson, Tenn., on Sunday.
Miyamoto took a competitive first set, 6-3, before Peyre answered with a convincing win in set two, 6-1. The two battled back and forth in an exciting third set tiebreaker before Miyamoto prevailed, 7-5, to win the title.
Miyamoto becomes the second Cowgirl to both win her respective tournament and beat a teammate in the final within a week. Ange ObyKajuru and Anastasiya Komar met in the final of the ITA Central Regional Championships on Tuesday, with Kajuru coming out on top.
The Cowgirls will now get some time off before they look ahead to the ITF Norman 15k pro circuit event beginning Oct. 30 along with the ITA Fall National Championships, taking place from Nov. 2-5 to round out the fall schedule.
