Martin Posts Bogey-Free Round, Cowgirls In Ninth After Two Rounds At Jim West Challenge

SAN MARCOS, Texas – Junior Clemence Martin headlined Cowgirl golf's opening day in San Marcos, posting a bogey-free round to slot tied for 10th individually after two rounds at the Jim West Challenge.
As a team, Oklahoma State enters the final 18 at Kissing Tree Golf Club in ninth place at 3-under. Houston (-15), SMU (-15) and Texas Tech (-15) carry a three-way tie for first going into the final 18.
Martin starred in day one, following up a 1-under 71 round one with a bogey-free round two tally of 5-under 67. In round two, she skyrocketed 17 spots up the leaderboard, carding four-consecutive birdies on hole Nos. 16, 17, 18 and 1, clutching a par 3 on hole No. 4 to secure her clean round.
For Martin, her round-two performance marked her first-career bogey-free round as a Cowgirl. In all, Martin has played 57 rounds for the Cowgirls, carrying a strong track record of steady play.
Freshman Marta Silchenko got going early for the Cowgirls, finishing round one tied for 10th place with a 4-under 68. In round two, she shot up the board with an eagle, but ultimately carded a 75. She enters Monday tied for 25th.
Thitaporn Saithip also holds a tied for 25th spot after carding rounds of 73 and 70. Saithip stayed consistent on Sunday, tying Martin for the most pars on the team with 26.
Ellie Bushnell heads into the final 18 tied for 51st at 3-over, while Angelica Pfefferkorn is slotted tied for 64th after rounds of 77 and 75. Both players joined Silchenko in the eagle party, as Bushnell found hers on hole No. 3, while Pfefferkorn eagled a par 5 on hole No. 17.
The Cowgirls return to Kissing Tree Golf Club for their third-and-final round at 8:30 a.m. CT.
