Cowgirls Advance Through Quarterfinals at Jackson 15k

JACKSON, Tenn. – Members of the Oklahoma State women's tennis team competed for a third day at the ITF Jackson 15k pro circuit event in Jackson, Tenn., on Thursday.
Top seed Lucia Peyre and Ayumi Miyamoto each picked up Round of 16 wins on the day, while Kristina Novak's run in the singles bracket came to an end. Peyre defeated American Anita Tu, 7-6 (7-3), 6-3, while Miyamoto cruised past Brazilian Luiza Fullana, 6-2, 6-1. Novak fell to sixth-seeded Anna Hertel from Poland, 6-4, 6-4.
In doubles, four Cowgirls were in action, with three advancing to the semifinals. Kristina Novak and her partner, Slovenian Lara Smejkal, defeated the American duo of Ellison Reynoldson and Melanie Woodbury in a tiebreaker, 4-6, 6-4 (10-4). Later in the day in a match that included three Cowgirls, Miyamoto and Peyre bested Raquel Gonzalez and her partner Mercedes Aristegui, also from Spain, 6-2, 6-2.
With the singles quarterfinals on tap for tomorrow, Peyre is scheduled to face Wisconsin's Taylor Cataldi, while Miyamoto will meet Carolina Gomez from Spain. In the doubles semifinals, Peyre, Miyamoto and Novak will all be competing for a chance to meet in the final. Their opponents and match times are still to be determined.
