October 17, 2023 | Cowboy Cross Country & Track
STILLWATER – Oklahoma State Cowboy cross country remained at No. 2 with the Cowgirls coming in at No. 6 in the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) National Coaches Poll, the organization announced Tuesday.
The Cowboys have held steady at No. 2 in every poll thus far behind reigning national champions Northern Arizona, with the OSU men most recently picking up a win at the Cowboy Jamboree on Sept. 23.
On the women's side, the Cowgirls dropped three spots to No. 6 despite their dominating victory at the Jamboree. Prior to this week's poll, the OSU women had been ranked at No. 3 for the first four polls of the season.
Both the Cowboys and Cowgirls also remained ranked at the top of the Midwest Region for the fifth straight poll. OSU will host the NCAA Midwest Regional Championships at the state-of-the-art Greiner Family OSU Cross Country Course on Friday, Nov. 10, starting at 10:30 a.m. CT.
Up next for the Cowboys and Cowgirls are the Big 12 Cross Country Championships in Ames, Iowa, on October 28. The OSU men have won the last three Big 12 titles, with the women taking the last two overall. During Director of Track & Field and Cross Country Dave Smith's tenure, OSU has won 16 combined Big 12 Cross Country titles.
