Komar, Kajuru to Play for Doubles Title in Kansas

LAWRENCE, Kan. – Anastasiya Komar and Ange Oby Kajuru of the Oklahoma State women's tennis team advanced to the doubles final at the ITA Central Regional Championships in Lawrence, Kansas, on Sunday.
The pair began the day with a win in the doubles quarterfinals, defeating Oklahoma's Julia Garcia Ruiz and Zdena Safarova, 8-4. They followed that with another win, this time besting Raphelle Lacasse and Isabel Adrover Gallego from Nebraska, 7-5, 7-5, to claim their spot in tomorrow's final.
The Cowgirl duo will take on the top-seeded team of Dana Guzman and Alina Shcherbinina from Oklahoma for the title at 10 a.m. CT on Monday.
In singles, Komar and Kajuru collected quarterfinal wins, earning spots in tomorrow's semifinals. Komar, the top seed, Defeated Indianna Spink from Arkansas, 2-6, 6-2, 6-3, while Kajuru got a straight-set victory over Oklahoma's Alina Shcherbinina, 6-2, 6-4. Kristina Novak's run came to an end as she fell to Florencia Urrutia from Oklahoma, 6-4, 2-6, 4-6.
After the completion of their doubles final tomorrow, Komar and Kajuru will compete in the singles semifinals, with each taking on an opponent from Oklahoma. Komar will face Dana Guzman while Kajuru will battle Urrutia. Both matches are set to begin at 11:30 a.m. CT.
