Golden Breaks Pentathlon School Record, DMR’s Shine on First Day of Razorback Invitational
January 27, 2023 | Cowboy Cross Country & Track
FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – Oklahoma State track & field completed its first day at the Razorback Invitational on Friday, with impressive performances coming from its multi-event athletes and distance runners.
Bailey Golden set the program record in the Pentathlon with a score of 4,123 on her way to a second-place finish overall. In her first full Pentathlon of the season, she placed sixth or better in all but one event, including two personal bests in the 60 Meter Hurdles and 800 Meters. Additionally, she never fell out of the top five in the competition.
By breaking the previous Pentathlon record of 4,115 points, Golden now has the school records in both indoor Pentathlon and outdoor Heptathlon, which she set in the Big 12 Championships last year.
On the men's side, the Cowboys took the victory in the men's distance medley relay with a time of 9:29.08, the fifth-fastest in program history. Alex Maier, Fouad Messaoudi, Ryan Schoppe and DJ McArthur unofficially recorded the fastest DMR time in the country midway through the indoor season.
In her first appearance in the High Jump this season, Saara Hakanen tied her personal best indoor jump, going over the bar at 1.78 meters. She initially set her PR in 2021 at the Big 12 Championships and is still tied with Tammy Lienhard for the program record.
In the women's DMR, Taylor Roe, Gabija Galvydyte, Tamara Woodley and Anne Gine Løvnes had the second-best performance in program history, finishing in 10:57.33. This is the fastest time since the Texas Tech Shootout in 2021 and is the third-fastest DMR time in the country.
