Miyamoto, Gonzalez Advance To Singles Championship At Freeman Memorial Tournament

Las Vegas – Oklahoma State's Ayumi Miyamoto and Raquel Gonzalez advanced to the respective singles championship matches in their draws at the 20th Annual Freeman Memorial Women's Tennis Championships at the Fertitta Tennis Complex at UNLV.
Miyamoto started the day off for the Cowgirls by defeating Pepperdine's Nikki Redelijk, 4-6, 6-2, 6-3. Gonzalez secured a, 6-2, 6-4, victory against Elise Wagle of UCLA to advance to tomorrow's championship.
Freshman Lucia Peyre bested UNLV's Zita Kovacs, 6-0, 6-4, to move on to the consolation final tomorrow morning.
Sofia Rojas dropped her match to Tian Fangran of UCLA, 6-4, 7-5 and Alana Wolfberg fell in a close matchup to Florida's Sara Dahlstrom, 6-7, 6-3, 6-4. Kristina Novak lost to Pepperdine's Carolyn Campana, 7-5, 6-2.
Due to weather, doubles play will not continue for this tournament. Singles action with begin tomorrow at 11 a.m. PST, 1 p.m. CST.
