Cowgirl Soccer’s Yochum Selected In NWSL Draft
January 12, 2023 | Cowgirl Soccer
PHILADELPHIA – Grace Yochum, the most prolific scorer in Oklahoma State soccer history, became the program's third NWSL Draft pick when she was selected in the second round with the 14th overall pick of Thursday's draft by the Chicago Red Stars.
Yochum is the second-highest NWSL Draft pick for the Cowgirls. AD Franch was selected sixth overall by Western New York in the first round of the inaugural NWSL Draft in 2013, while Charmé Morgan was also a second round pick who was taken 16th overall by Louisville in 2022.
A midfielder from Houston, Yochum played five seasons in an OSU uniform and posted a program-record 41 goals and 91 points in 86 games.
Yochum capped her career by becoming the sixth Cowgirl to earn All-America honors as she was named to the 2022 United Soccer Coaches All-America Second Team.
In her final season, Yochum tied for the OSU team lead with eight goals and also recorded an assist. Five of her goals were game winners, which ranked 13th in the NCAA in 2022.
Yochum netted a career-high 12 goals in 2020, which came on the heels of an 11-goal output as a sophomore in 2019. She finished her career with 21 game-winning goals, and she led the NCAA in that statistical category in 2020 with eight.
One of the most decorated players in program history, Yochum is one of only two players in OSU history to earn United Soccer Coaches All-Region honors four times. She is also one of only four Cowgirls to achieve All-Big 12 First Team status three times and one of just six to be named All-Big 12 four times in their OSU career.
