Cowgirl Equestrian Tops Preseason Rankings

STILLWATER – The defending national champion Oklahoma State Equestrian team has been ranked No. 1 in the National Collegiate Equestrian Association preseason poll for the first time in program history.
This is the eighth consecutive year that the program has been ranked in the preseason top 10 after being No. 4 each of the last three years.
Head coach Larry Sanchez and the Cowgirls are coming off a historic season in 2021-22 in which they won their eighth Big 12 Championship and first overall NCEA national championship in program history. The team returns the majority of its championship-winning roster, including first-team All-Americans Sydnie Ziegler and Hope King, as well as second-teamers Jojo Roberson and Molly Mitchell.
Big 12 teams joining Oklahoma State in the top 10 are Baylor and Fresno State, ranked seventh and eighth, respectively.
The Cowgirls are set to open their season October 1 in Stillwater against No. 7 SMU. OSU fell to the Mustangs when the teams met last season, 10-5.
