STILLWATER – The Oklahoma State football team made another jump in the polls up to No. 8 in the Associated Press Top 25 and No. 7 in the USA TODAY Sports AFCA Coaches Poll, which were released Sunday.
A 2-0 start to the season has the Pokes steadily climbing the rankings after beginning the season ranked outside the top 10 in both polls. With the No. 8 spot in the AP poll, Oklahoma State has now appeared in the top 10 of the AP poll at some point in 11 of the past 15 seasons. It also marks the highest ranking for OSU after two weeks since the 2011 season.
Oklahoma State is one of four members of the Big 12 ranked in the polls, as Oklahoma leads the way at No. 6 in both polls, with the Pokes close behind. Baylor landed at No. 17 in the AP poll and No. 19 in the coaches poll, while Texas appeared in the rankings for the first time this season after a one-point loss to top-ranked Alabama. Kansas State, Texas Tech and Iowa State are each receiving votes in both polls, while TCU received votes in the coaches poll.
The Cowboys are set to finish their nonconference schedule on Saturday against Arkansas-Pine Bluff in the first ever meeting between the schools. Kickoff is set for 6 p.m. on Big 12 Now on ESPN+.
