Cowgirl Golf Announces 2022-23 Schedule
August 04, 2022 | Cowgirl Golf
STILLWATER, Okla. ---- Oklahoma State's women's golf will once again compete against the nation's toughest competition in 2022-23, headlined by a season-opening trip to the distinguished Pebble Beach Golf Links, head coach Greg Robertson announced Thursday.
Â
Last season, OSU advanced to the NCAA Championships for the second-consecutive year following a remarkable regular season, which included four tournament victories and an undefeated fall schedule. The Cowgirls also finished in the top-3 of every regular season tournament, a feat that had not been accomplished at Oklahoma State since 1973-74.
Â
Standout, and rising junior, Maddison Hinson-Tolchard is set to return to the Cowgirl lineup after a stellar sophomore campaign, in which she was named the 2021-22 Big 12 Golfer of the Year and earned Second Team All-America honors. Rina Tatematsu, who represented OSU at Augusta National last season, also returns alongside an exciting core of returners and talented newcomers in the program.
Â
The Cowgirls will begin their season at the Carmel Cup in Pebble Beach, Calif., which is scheduled to run September 2-4. Pebble Beach Golf Links is widely viewed as one of the most beautiful courses in the world, as it runs right along the coastline and has wide open views of the Pacific Ocean.
Â
A few weeks later, Oklahoma State will travel down to Norman, Okla. to compete at the Schooner Fall Classic, held September 24-26. The Cowgirls ran away with the tournament title last season, winning by 20 strokes, to capture the program's third victory at the event.
Â
After competing at the Illini Women's Invitational in Medinah, Ill. on October 10-11, the Cowgirls will look to win their second-straight Jim West Challenge title at Kissing Tree Golf Club in San Marcos, Texas on October 23-24. In last year's event, OSU shot 39-under as a team to shatter both the course record and tournament record.
Â
The Nexus Collegiate Invitational in New Providence, Bahamas will open the spring portion of the season February 13-15. The event will mark the Cowgirls' first tournament outside the United States since taking a trip to Rio Grande, Puerto Rico in February of 2020 to compete in the Lady Puerto Rico Classic.
Â
Oklahoma State will then return to Humble, Texas for the third year in a row to compete at the ICON Invitational on February 27-28. OSU will also play at the Valspar Augusta Invitational in Augusta, Ga. (March 11-12) and the Clemson Invitational in Sunset, S.C. (March 24-26).
Â
OSU will close out the regular season with a visit to Scottsdale, Ariz. for the Big 12 Match Play, which is set to run April 7-9. The Cowgirls are 7-4 in match play since Robertson took over as head coach in 2019.
Â
To start the postseason, the Cowgirls will head to Dallas, Texas from April 21-23 in search of Big 12 Championship No. 11 and the 25th conference title in program history. Last year, Lianna Bailey shot a 215 (+2) to edge out the field by a single stroke and bring home the individual title.
Â
NCAA Regionals will be played from May 8-10 at various locations. The Cowgirls finished in a tie for third to earn another birth to the NCAA Championships in last season's NCAA Stillwater Regional at Karsten Creek Golf Club. Hinson-Tolchard claimed the individual championship, defeating the field by two strokes with rounds of 72-71-69 (-4) 212.
Â
The 2023 NCAA Championships will once again be played at Grayhawk Golf Club in Scottsdale, Arizona on May 19-24. Oklahoma State has made 23 trips to the NCAA Championships and will look to make it 24 in the upcoming season.
