STILLWATER – Oklahoma State equestrian has added Carter Anderson as an assistant coach for the 2022-2023 season, head coach Larry Sanchez announced today. In her role, Anderson will serve as the jumping seat assistant coach.
"I'm very excited to have coach Anderson join our staff," Sanchez said. "She brings energy and excitement to the arena and will help us continue to compete at the highest level."
Anderson joins the Cowgirls after one season as an assistant coach at the University of Tennessee at Martin, where she was named the Eastern College Athletic Conference Equestrian Assistant Coach of the Year.
"I am incredibly excited to be joining the OSU Equestrian family," Anderson said. "It is an honor to work with the reigning national champions, and I look forward to being a part of their continued success this season and beyond."
In her one season on the UT-Martin staff, Anderson oversaw a group of jumping seat riders that was amongst the ECAC conference's best. The jumping unit collected 44 victories and 10 MOPs in fences to go along with 38 wins and eight MOPs in flat.
UT-Martin also produced three All-ECAC honorees from Anderson's group, with Kelby Kane and Haley Kane being selected for fences and Julia Gilman for flat. In addition, Kane was named the ECAC Fences Rider of the Year as she became the first UT-Martin rider to ever claim that award.
With the help of Anderson's supervision, the Skyhawks were ranked in the top 10 of the National Collegiate Equestrian Association polls nine different weeks. The team finished the year 8-8 with a 7-2 record against ECAC opponents and made their second straight appearance in the conference's championship meet.
Before joining the UT-Martin staff, Anderson had an impressive collegiate career at the University of Georgia, including being a member of the 2021 NCEA National Champion Bulldog squad.
Anderson was also a member of two NCEA reserve championship teams at Georgia, in 2018 and 2019, and contributed to a Southeastern Conference title in 2018, as well.
In 2019, Anderson was elected by her peers and coaches at Georgia as a team captain and remained in that role until her final season in 2021.
A native of Knoxville, Tenn., Anderson graduated cum laude from Georgia in 2021 with a degree in journalism. She was named to the NCEA Academic Honor Roll and the SEC Honor Roll every year while she was at Georgia (2017-2021).
