Miyamoto/Rioux Advance To Round Of 16 In Dominating Performance, Sawangkaew Wraps Up Freshman Season

CHAMPAIGN, Ill. – Oklahoma State's Ayumi Miyamoto and Lisa Marie Rioux advanced to the round of 16 in dominating fashion at the NCAA Division I Women's Tennis Championship on Tuesday afternoon at the Khan Outdoor Tennis Complex on the campus of the University of Illinois.
Ayumi Miyamoto and Lisa Marie Rioux moved into tomorrow's round of 16 with a near-perfect performance in a match that was never in question. The Cowgirl tandem came out of the gate swinging, winning eight straight games and 12 out of 13 overall in the match to take a 6-0, 6-1 complete domination of the nation's fourth-ranked and the tournament's fourth-seeded Carol Lee and Kate Sharabura of Georgia Tech.
Mhai Sawangkaew, OSU's Big 12 Freshman of the Year and All-Big 12 first-team selection, saw her impressive freshman season come to a close this afternoon. Sawangkaew dropped her match in the round of 32 to Saint Mary's Mariia Kozyreva, 6-4, 7-6 (8-6). Sawangakew wraps up her first season for the Cowgirls with an impressive 19-2 dual.
Miyamoto and Rioux will face Cameron Morra and Carson Tangulig of North Carolina tomorrow night at 7:30 p.m.
