Sanchez and Brainard Named NCEA Coaches of the Year

STILLWATER – After leading Oklahoma State to the first national title in program history, Larry Sanchez has been named the 2022 NCEA Head Coach of the Year, while Laura Brainard is the 2022 NCEA Western Coach of the Year.
In his 23rd year at OSU, Sanchez produced the most successful season of his career as the Cowgirls finished the season with the best record in program history at 15-2. The Cowgirls also defeated a No. 1 overall ranked team two separate times throughout the year, won their eighth Big 12 Conference championship and capped off their historic run with a national championship trophy.
In her third season as Oklahoma State's Western assistant coach, Brainard added to her storied career as she coached two All-Americans, two All-Big 12 Team honorees and a standout athlete of the month. Her athletes also cumulatively secured 21 MOPs throughout the season.
This is Sanchez's second year earning this award, previously winning in 2013, while Brainard is a first-time honoree.
