OSU Outdoor Track & Field Returns to Norman for John Jacobs Invitational
April 22, 2022 | Cowgirl Cross Country & Track
STILLWATER – Oklahoma State outdoor track & field returns to Norman, Okla., for the second straight weekend to compete in the John Jacobs Invitational.
Several field event athletes will be in action on Friday night in the Hammer Throw, Shot Put and Long Jump. Zac Robbins, Sam Mason, Hannah Bradford and Johnna Orange will all be competing in the Hammer Throw on Friday after having successful starts to their outdoor campaigns thus far. Robbins and Mason are second and third, respectively, on OSU's all-time list and Bradford is currently seventh in program history in the event.
Every Cowboy and Cowgirl event group will be competing on Saturday across 24 events in total. Micalah Millard and Olivija Vaitaityte open the day in the women's Javelin Throw. Vaitaityte set the school record in the Heptathlon earlier this season at the Jim Click Invitational and is sixth on the school's all-time list in the Javelin.
Indoor Pole Vault All-American Ariadni Adamopoulou will be competing for the second time this outdoor season after opening with a vault of 4.15 meters in the Baylor Invitational. Immediately following Adamopoulou is four-time All-Big 12 finisher Saara Hakanen in the High Jump. Hakanen is currently second in school history in the event with a personal-best jump of 1.82 meters.
Both the Cowboy and Cowgirl 4x400 Meter squads are in action on Saturday after setting the school record in the event earlier this season. Charlie Bartholomew, EJ Berry, DJ McArthur and Cash Merutka broke the 29-year-old school Cowboy record in the season opener at the Texas Relays last month. Christina Ollison, Nickie Dixon, Kalaya Ali and Tamara Woodley broke the Cowgirl school record just one week later at the Baylor Invitational with their time of 3:33.16.
Koryee Wyatt will be competing in his first collegiate 100 Meters after an impressive true freshman indoor season that ended with the fifth-fastest 60 Meter time in school history at the Big 12 Indoor Championships in February. Wyatt is also currently ninth on OSU's all-time list in the 200 Meters with his 21.16 at the Tom Jones Memorial Invitational last week in Gainesville, Fla.
The Cowboys will also send distance runners Victor Shitsama and Rory Leonard out to Eugene, Ore., to compete in the Oregon Relays with the goal of setting regional qualifying times in the 3,000 Meter Steeplechase and 5,000 Meters, respectively.
