April 22, 2022 | Cowboy Cross Country & Track
STILLWATER – Oklahoma State outdoor track & field opened its weekend on Friday at the John Jacobs Invitational in Norman, Okla., for the second straight weekend.
Zac Robbins opened the night for the Cowboys in the Hammer Throw, setting a new personal record with his throw of 57.85 meters. Robbins' throw was the second longest in program history behind Olympian Nick Miller. Sam Mason also competed in the event with a throw of 55.53 meters, which was just a meter shy of his personal best.
Hannah Bradford and Johnna Orange competed in the women's Hammer Throw with Bradford nearly equaling her PR with a fourth-place throw of 53.27 meters. Orange set a personal best in the event with a distance of 47.64 meters.
In the men's Long Jump, Blair Anderson set an all-conditions personal best with a jump of 7.52 meters, which would rank eighth in program history if it was wind legal.
On the women's side, Ryan Roane, Olivija Vaitaityte, Allison Bliss, Sydney Ritter, Jayden Fiebiger and Sara Byers all competed in the Long Jump, with Roane leading the way with a jump of 5.68 meters. Vaitaityte finished right behind with her 5.66-meter jump, leading to a top-10 finish for both Cowgirls.
Distance runners Victor Shitsama and Rory Leonard will compete later tonight out west in Eugene, Ore., at the Oregon Relays. Shitsama will be running the 3,000 Meter Steeplechase with Leonard running in the 5,000 Meters.
Both the Cowboys and Cowgirls will be back in Norman tomorrow to wrap up the weekend with multiple events across all event groups.
