Cowgirls Tennis Rises In Rankings

STILLWATER, Okla. – Oklahoma State's women's tennis team jumped to No. 11 in the latest ITA Top 25 rankings it was announced today by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association.
This marks the 13th consecutive week the Cowgirls have appeared in the top 25 poll.
In addition to the team rankings, four Cowgirls were ranked in the ITA Tennis Division I women's tennis rankings. The national rankings feature the top 125 singles players and the top 60 doubles teams in the country.
Cowgirl veteran Lisa Marie Rioux earned the highest singles ranking of any Cowgirl as she rose eight spots to No. 19, while freshman Mhai Sawangkaew jumped 20 spots checking in at No. 31 after a pair of wins over opponents ranked in the top 50 last weekend.
Two Cowgirl duos earned a spot in the top 60, including the dominant court one tandem of Ayumi Miyamoto and Lisa Marie Rioux, who checked in at No. 18. Mhai Sawangkaew and Martina Zerulo are the 75th-ranked duo in the nation.
The Cowgirls will now turn their attention to the postseason, with the Big 12 Women's Tennis Championships slated for April 21-24 in Fort Worth, Texas. OSU will face Texas Tech in a quarterfinal match on Friday at noon.
