Softball Splits Doubleheader With Stanford

STILLWATER - The No. 8 Oklahoma State softball team split a Friday doubleheader with Stanford, claiming a 6-1 win in game one and 5-1 loss in game two at Cowgirl Stadium on the first day of the OSU Tulsa Invitational.
The Cowgirls moved to 12-5 on the season and Stanford to 16-3 overall.
In game one, Kelly Maxwell had another dominant performance, allowing one run on three hits. She recorded the win to improve to 6-0 on the year and turned in her third consecutive complete game.
Julia Cottrill homered twice in the first game and added three runs batted in and two walks. She reached base six times in Friday's doubleheader.
Katelynn Carwile also added two hits in game one, both of which were extra base hits. She also recorded two RBI.
In game two, a couple of runs in consecutive late inning frames propelled the Cardinal past Oklahoma State.
Miranda Elish recorded the loss and fell to 3-4.
OSU's one run came when Morgyn Wynne tripled home Sydney Pennington, who reached base with a single.
