Kelly Maxwell No-Hits Texas Tech To Open Big 12 Slate

STILLWATER – Kelly Maxwell tossed her first no-hitter of the season against Texas Tech to help the Cowgirls win, 7-0, at Cowgirl Stadium on Friday.
With the win, the Cowgirls improve to 22-6 and 1-0 in conference play.
Maxwell's no-hitter – the fourth of her career – improved her record to a perfect 10-0.
She fanned 16 batters through seven innings, marking the eighth game this season she's recorded double digit strikeouts.
Kiley Naomi, Katelynn Carwile, Miranda Elish and Sydney Pennington all recorded multiple hits in the contest. They accounted for five of six Cowgirl RBI.
The first run of the ball game came in the third inning, when Kiley Naomi hit a solo home run.
A Pennington double, followed by an error, scored Elish in the fourth. Hayley Busby drove in Pennington off an RBI groundout to stretch the lead to three.
Elish hit her first home run in an OSU uniform in the bottom of the fifth. The two-run blast extended the Cowgirl lead to six.
Carwile singled Naomi home in the sixth, capping off four straight innings the Cowgirls posted at least one run.
Looking ahead, the Cowgirls play the second of their three-game series against Texas Tech tomorrow at 2 p.m. CT.
