Cowgirl Softball Takes Game Two Of Texas Tech Series
March 26, 2022 | Cowgirl Softball
STILLWATER – A five-run fifth inning propelled Oklahoma State to a 9-1 run-rule victory over Texas Tech at Cowgirl Stadium on Saturday.
The Cowgirls expanded their win streak to six games and improved to 23-6 as they claimed their first conference series of 2022.
"I'd be doing a disservice to our fans if I didn't say, 'Thank you for coming out here today,'" head coach Kenny Gajewski said. "This atmosphere was wild. It was electric out here to see the people all around this field."
Home runs from Chyenne Factor, Miranda Elish, Sydney Pennington and Katelynn Carwile fueled the barrage of scoring for OSU. The Cowgirls have hit at least one home run in 12 of their last 13 games.
Elish recorded the win in the circle, improving to 7-4. She allowed one run on three hits while fanning five batters in five innings of work.
Kiley Naomi singled home Brianna Evans in the first inning to score the first run of the game.
Elish hit a solo shot in the second. It was her second homer in as many games. With her performance today, she's recorded back-to-back three hit games, boosting her batting average to .432.
Chyenne Factor hit a two-run home run in the third inning – her ninth of the season – gave her the edge over Julia Cottrill as the club's home run leader.
Sydney Pennington blew the game open in the fifth inning with a three-run blast; she led the team in RBI with three.
Kiley Naomi reached on an error on a hard ground ball to the shortstop with the bases loaded to bring in the Cowgirls' fifth run of the inning to complete the run-rule victory.
The Cowgirls wrap up the series with Texas Tech tomorrow at 12 p.m. CT.
