Cowgirl Tennis Set To Host A Pair Of Top 25 Matches

The Basics
Oklahoma State's women's tennis team (11-2 overall; 2-0 Big 12) will continue conference play with a two-match homestand against No. 6 Texas (13-3 overall; 4-0 Big 12) and No. 22 Baylor (12-4 overall; 3-0 Big 12) this weekend. The Cowgirls and Longhorns square off at 5 p.m. (CST) on Friday. On Sunday, OSU will host the Bears at 1 p.m. (CST) in Stillwater.

Oklahoma State's women's tennis team checked in at No. 11 in the latest ITA Top 25 rankings it was announced to- day by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association. In the individual rankings, freshman Mhai Sawangkaew earned the highest singles ranking of any Cowgirl as she landed at No. 30, while Cowgirl veteran Lisa Marie Rioux checked in at No. 42. Newcomer Oona Orpana checked in at the No. 104 spot in the rankings. Two Cowgirl duos earned a spot in the top 60, including the undefeated duo of Ayumi Miyamoto and Lisa Marie Rioux who checked in at No. 14. Mhai Sawangkaew and Martina Zerulo are the 49th-ranked duo in the nation.

Oklahoma State's 11th-ranked Cowgirl tennis team had its 10-match winning streak snapped last weekend after dropping a hard-fought contest against UCF, 4-3. Prior to the match, OSU completed an undefeated start to Big 12 play in its conference-opening homestand, where the Cowgirls started the weekend completing their seventh sweep of the year after dominating Kansas State, 4-0. OSU moved to 11-1 on the season and added another top 25 win to its resume, taking down then-No. 24 Kansas to finish off the weekend. This season, OSU returns Alana Wolfberg, Dariya Detkovskaya, Ayumi Miyamoto and Lora Boggs from last year's team. OSU signed Sofia Rojas, Oona Orpana, Mhai Mananchaya and Martina Zerulo. The veterans and Cowgirl newcomers have played a large role in the team's early success.
