Match Notes
The Basics
Oklahoma State's women's tennis team (6-1 overall; 0-0 Big 12) is set to compete at the ITA Kickoff Weekend in Montgomery, Alabama, at the Lagoon Park Tennis Center this weekend. The action starts Friday morning at 8:30 a.m. (CST) when the Cowgirls face Yale (4-4 overall; 0-0 Ivy League). OSU will face either No. 42 Furman or No. 26 Alabama in doubles play only depending on the outcomes of the matches Friday afternoon at 2:30 p.m. (CST). Singles play will conclude Saturday morning. OSU is guaranteed another match on Saturday. The time and opponent will depend on the outcome of Friday's matches.

Oklahoma State's women's tennis team rose to No. 10 in the latest ITA Top 25 rankings. Freshman Mhai Sawangkaew earned the highest singles ranking of any Cowgirl as she landed at No. 29, while Cowgirl veteran Lisa Marie Rioux checked in at No. 50. Oona Orpana climbed her way back in the rankings at No. 82. Both undefeated Cowgirl doubles duos earned their spot in the top 60. Ayumi Miyamoto and Lisa Marie Rioux checked in at No. 26 and Mhai Sawangkaew and Martina Zerulo are the 58th ranked duo in the nation.
Oklahoma State From a Distance
Oklahoma State's 10th-ranked Cowgirl tennis team ran its winning streak to five and added its first top 10 win of the season after taking down No. 10 USC and Tulsa last weekend. The Cowgirls moved to 6-1 on the season with the pair of victories. Additionally, OSU completed its fourth sweep of the season and has outscored its opponents by a combined 23-1 count during the winning streak.
This season, OSU returns Alana Wolfberg, Dariya Detkovskaya, Ayumi Miyamoto and Lora Boggs from last year's team. OSU signed Sofia Rojas, Oona Orpana, Mhai Mananchaya and Martina Zerulo. The veterans and Cowgirl newcomers have played a large role in the team's early success. OSU set the stage this fall for high expectations come the spring season between the three returners and five signees. Freshman Mhai Sawangkaew has answered the call for OSU. Playing court two for the Cowgirls in singles, Sawangkaew holds an undefeated record and has only lost one game in her last two matches. In addition, two-time All-American Lisa Marie Rioux leads OSU on court one in singles with a 3-1 clip on the season, including a win over the nation's top-ranked singles player.
OSU has won the doubles point in six out of its first seven matches, led by two undefeated duos in Martina Zerulo and Mhai Sawangkaew on court one and Lisa Marie Rioux and Ayumi Miyamoto on court two. OSU has nine ITA preseason top 25 opponents on this year's schedule. The Cowgirls showed off their depth at ITA Kickoff weekend competing without two-time all- American Lisa Marie Rioux. OSU went 1-1, finishing the weekend with a 4-0 shutout of 21st-ranked LSU. OSU dropped a hard-fought match against No. 11 Ohio State, 4-1, on day one of play. OSU picked up a 5-2 win over preseason top-25 opponent Princeton to begin the spring dual season.
