February 20, 2022 | Cowgirl Softball
CLEARWATER, Fla. – Back-to-back sixth inning home runs from Chyenne Factor and Julia Cottrill pushed the No. 7 Oklahoma State softball team to a 4-3 victory over No. 23 Northwestern at the St. Pete Clearwater Elite Invitational Sunday.
Oklahoma State improved to 6-4 with the win. Northwestern logged its second loss of the season after defeating No. 3 UCLA on Friday.
Miranda Elish (2-3) recorded the win in her first complete game of the season. Elish allowed three runs off three hits in the first inning, but kept the Wildcats off the board for the final six innings. Elish finished with eight strikeouts and retired each of the last six batters to close Northwestern out.
Karli Petty's solo home run in the third inning was the first run on the board for the Cowgirls.
The win was OSU's second over a ranked opponent at the SPC Elite Invitational and the Cowgirls' third of the season.
Next up for OSU is a trip to College Station, Texas, where the Cowgirls take part in the Reveille Classic starting Friday.
