OSU Indoor Track Wraps Up Regular Season With Trip To Fayetteville
February 17, 2022 | Cowgirl Cross Country & Track
STILLWATER – The Oklahoma State men's and women's indoor track teams will make the trip to Fayetteville, Ark., for the fourth time this season to compete in the Arkansas Qualifier.
This meet will wrap up what has been a historic indoor season for the program, with several long-standing school records being broken this year and perhaps a record number of athletes being sent to the indoor national championships next month in Birmingham, Ala.
As it stands, Alex Maier, Ariadni Adamopoulou, Gabija Galvydyte, Maddie Meiner, Ryan Schoppe, Taylor Roe and both Distance Medley Relay teams are all in qualifying positions to make it to nationals. Currently, the men's DMR team of Schoppe, Fouad Messaoudi, Justin Smith and Juan Diego-Castro are the top-ranked group in the country by almost three seconds overall.
The men's DMR will be on display in Fayetteville attempting to improve their time and perhaps set the school record time of 9:26.60 set back in 2016.
Galvydyte will also be competing in the JDL Fast Track at Wake Forest in hopes of improving her time in the 800 Meter run. She currently holds the final qualifying time in the country but will compete against several runners above her with the opportunity to move past them in the rankings.
After they wrap up their regular season in Fayetteville, the Cowboys and Cowgirls will head to Ames, Iowa, next week for the Big 12 Indoor Championships.
