Fierro Wins Cowgirls' Second-Straight Tournament
February 14, 2022 | Cowgirl Golf
MELBOURNE, Fla. – Oklahoma State women's golf's Isabella Fierro won the individual title at the Columbia Classic presented by Moon Golf at Duran Golf Club in Melbourne, Fla., on Monday. Fierro shot two on-par rounds to finish 2-under in the tournament.
With her victory, the Cowgirls have started the spring portion of their schedule with back-to-back individual champions after Maddison Hinson-Tolchard completed the feat in the first tournament of the semester.
Oklahoma State finished third at 20-over as a team. The Cowgirls shot back-to-back rounds of 292 at the par-72, 6,357-yard layout. Virginia Tech won the team title with a 289 in the first round to finish 16-over. Texas Tech finished in second place at 17-over.
"I think this is a week that we can learn and grow from," head coach Greg Robertson said. "We played well enough to win, but a few course management mistakes in those tough conditions cost us in the end. But those are some things that can easily get corrected.
"We're really proud of Isabella for winning the individual title. She has been very close to winning over the last year and a half, and it was great to see her close it out today."
OSU had a tournament best 177 on-par holes.
Hinson-Tolchard finished in a tie for 10th place at 5-over and had the second-best par-4 scoring of the tournament. Lianna Bailey shot a 69 in the second round to finish 7-over and in a tie for 15th place.
Clemence Martin tied for 22nd at 10-over. To round out the Cowgirl lineup, Rina Tatematsu finished 19-over and tied for 48th.
The Cowgirls return to action on Feb. 21 at the Icon Invitational in Humble, Texas.
