OSU Indoor Track Continues Historic Season With Record-Setting Weekend
February 12, 2022 | Cowgirl Cross Country & Track
STILLWATER – The Oklahoma State men's and women's indoor track teams completed a historic tri-meet weekend with several more record-breaking performances on Saturday.
In the Husky Classic, Alex Maier continued to make history, recording the second-fastest mile in program history while winning the event in 3:56.44. His performance came one day after breaking the school record in the 5,000 Meter run with a time of 13:25.79.
Several other Cowboys also competed in the mile in Seattle, with Will Muirhead, Shea Foster, Chris Middleton-Pearson and Victor Shitsama all setting new personal bests in the event.
On the women's side, Sivan Auerbach ran her first mile in an OSU uniform and impressed with a time of 4:40.86. Her time unofficially set the Israeli indoor national record in the mile and puts her ninth on OSU's all-time list one day after helping the DMR team to a third place ranking nationally.
Colleen Stegmann also set a new personal best in the mile with a time of 4:49.94. This was her second straight-event with a new PR after shattering her previous record in the 3,000 Meters on Friday.
In Lubbock for the second day of the Texas Tech Shootout, Ariadni Adamopoulou set a new season high in the pole vault by clearing 4.35 Meters. This moved her into 11th nationally and could mean a qualifying bid to nationals next month.
Out in Boston, Fouad Messaoudi continued the trend of rewriting the Cowboy record book this weekend by setting a new PR in the 3,000 Meter run for the second-consecutive meet and moved himself into sixth on the OSU all-time list with a time of 7:50.72.
