OSU Indoor Track & Field Splits Up For Multi-Meet Weekend
February 10, 2022 | Cowgirl Cross Country & Track
STILLWATER — Oklahoma State men's and women's indoor track & field teams are dividing and conquering this weekend with athletes competing in three separate events in Lubbock, Texas, Seattle and Boston, respectively.
The distance runners will be competing in the Husky Classic in Seattle, where they will attempt to move up the indoor qualifying rankings with good performances.
Among the group headed to Seattle, Alex Maier, Gabby Hentemann, Gabija Galvydyte and Taylor Roe are currently in position to qualify for indoor nationals with times inside the top 16 at their respective events. The men's and women's distance medley relay teams are also currently first and sixth, respectively, and are in great position to qualify as well.
Maier is currently sixth nationally in the 3,000 Meter run after setting the school record in the event two weeks ago at the Razorback Invitational. Hentemann is the right side of the bubble after setting a personal best in the 3,000 Meter run at the same meet. Galvydyte is currently qualified in two separate events with a sixth-place time nationally in both the 800 Meter run and distance medley relay.
Cowgirl star Taylor Roe is qualified in three separate events thus far and is going for her fourth this weekend in the 800 meters. She is fourth nationally in the mile, sixth in the DMR and eighth in the 3,000 meters, where she owns the program record set earlier this season.
Fellow distance athletes Fouad Messaoudi and Juan Diego-Castro travel to Boston where they will compete in the David Hemery Valentine Invitational where they will attempt to qualify for the World Athletics Indoor Championships for Morocco and Costa Rica, respectively.
The rest of the Cowboys and Cowgirls travel to Texas Tech for the second time this season to compete in the Texas Tech Shootout. As it stands, Ariadni Adamopoulou and Maddie Meiner are each in the field with 12th place performances in the pole vault and pentathlon, respectively.
