Cowgirl Softball Trio Tabbed Preseason All-Americans

STILLWATER – Hayley Busby, Miranda Elish and Kiley Naomi of Oklahoma State softball have each earned spots on the 2022 D1Softball Preseason All-America teams.
Naomi was chosen for first team honors as a shortstop, while Busby – voted in as a designated player – and Elish – nominated as a pitcher and a designated player – were selected to the second team.
Simply by watching her play, one would be hard pressed to find an element of the game in which Naomi doesn't excel. Her numbers, especially those from the 2021 season, confirm her do-it-all nature. Naomi's .578 career slugging percentage places her atop the all-time list for OSU shortstops. Her 59 runs scored in 2021 ranks second on the OSU single-season list. Naomi is as reliable as they come with a career .311 batting average and a .417 career on base percentage. Naomi was honored with first team All-Big 12 and third team all-region awards in 2021, but Naomi has bigger aspirations moving forward, for herself and her team.
Busby looks to build off a 2021 season in which she earned third-team All-America honors after setting a single-season OSU record with a .794 slugging percentage. Her 19 home runs last year were just one shy of tying the school record. Her power makes her a threat, but add in that she also batted .376 a season ago and it becomes clear why she is one of the nation's most dangerous hitters for 2022.
A 2020 first-team All-American and the 2020 National Player of the Year, according to Softball America, having Elish in the Cowgirl pitching staff makes the 2022 Oklahoma State squad that much more dangerous. Between her time at Oregon and Texas, Elish has posted a 66-15 career record with a 1.53 earned run average and 669 strikeouts in 550 innings of work. Opponents are batting just .179 against her.
The Cowgirls open the season February 10 when they take on Arizona State in the Kajikawa Classic in Tempe, Arizona.
