Roberson Earns Big 12 Horsemanship Rider of the Month
December 07, 2022 | Cowgirl Equestrian
STILLWATER – The Big 12 has named Oklahoma State Equestrian's JoJo Roberson as its Horsemanship Rider of the Month for November.
For Roberson, the award comes on the heels of being named the NCEA Horsemanship Rider of the Month last week as she became the first Cowgirl to earn that distinction since 2019.
With the conference award, Roberson is the first Cowgirl to be named a Big 12 Rider of the Month since March of 2022 when three OSU riders earned the honor. This also marks the first time a Cowgirl has claimed the award in Horsemanship since Harley Huff in March 2021.
This marks the second time Roberson has been named the Big 12 Horsemanship Rider of the Month in her career; she also earned the award in February 2021. The honor adds to an impressive resume for the senior that includes being this month's NCEA Horsemanship Rider of the Month, two All-America selections and 12 career MOP awards.
Roberson went 2-0 in the month of November while earning MOP honors in both of her wins. The first came in OSU's 13-6 win over Fresno State in Stillwater, in which she won her point, 78-70. Her second win of the month came in a loss at Auburn, where she won her point, 79-77, setting a new season high.
Roberson also competes in Reining, making her the only Cowgirl to start in both Western disciplines. She went 1-1 on the month in Reining, with a win at home against Fresno State before falling at Auburn.
OSU has completed a fall schedule in which it won three of its six meets. The Cowgirls will pick their season back up in February and ride until the postseason in late March into April.
