Record Day Helps Cowgirls Cruise Past North Texas

STILLWATER, Okla. — Behind a record-setting performance from junior Taylen Collins, Oklahoma State's women's basketball team knocked off North Texas, 82-64, on Saturday afternoon in front of 1,589 fans inside Gallagher-Iba Arena.
Collins matched the school's single-game record with 23 rebounds in the contest while adding 12 points on a 6-of-7 shooting effort to log her third double-double of the year. Collins matched the previous school mark set by All-American Natasha Mack, who accomplished the feat on Dec. 20, 2019 against Oral Roberts. Additionally, her total marked the 11th time a Cowgirl has grabbed 20 boards in a contest.
Playing at home for the first time since Nov. 20, the Cowgirls improved to 7-2 on the year with the win.
OSU used a pair of early 3-pointers to lead, 8-2, before the Mean Green got within one at 10-9 at the 4:31 mark of the first. The Cowgirls would take a 17-11 through the game's first 10 minutes.
The Cowgirls got an 10-0 run capped by a basket from Collins to stretch its margin to 31-16 with four minutes left in the the half.
Junior Lior Garzon drilled one of her five treys in the contest a little more than a minute later to give OSU a 37-19 advantage. Neither side would score the final two minutes of the half with OSU taking a 37-21 lead at the break.
The Cowgirl lead would reach 20 for the first time halfway through the third at 50-30 on an old-fashioned 3-point play from fifth year Terryn Milton.
Down the stretch, Collins grabbed her 23rd and final board of the night with a minute to go.
Garzon finished with a season-high 21 points in the contest.
