Cowgirl Golf Adds Jacqui Putrino To Program
December 16, 2022 | Cowgirl Golf
STILLWATER, Okla. ---- Oklahoma State women's golf head coach Greg Robertson announced the signing of another talented future Cowgirl in Jacqui Putrino on Friday.
Â
Putrino, a freshman, is set to join OSU after a promising fall season at Florida State.
"We are very excited to welcome Jacqui to Oklahoma State," Robertson said. "As one of the top junior golfers in the country coming out of high school, we feel she will add a lot to the team as we continue to strive for National Championships. Although she won't be able to compete in the spring, it will give her some time to see what our program is all about for a semester before she's ready to go next fall."
Â
Throughout the fall schedule, Putrino earned three starts for the Seminoles, in which she recorded a stroke average of 73.75 and shot 75-or-better in six of her eight rounds played.
Â
Putrino's best performance of the season came in her first collegiate start at the Schooner Fall Classic in September. There, she fired rounds of 68-73-69-210 en route to a top-20 finish at even par, and was instrumental in the Seminoles' tournament victory. Putrino's first round 68, as well as her 54-hole score of 210, are both the best marks of her young career.
Â
At the Ivy Intercollegiate, Putrino picked up her first collegiate match play win, defeating Harvard's Catie Schernecker, 4-Up.
Â
Prior to her time at Florida State, Putrino was named one of the top-15 incoming freshmen in the class of 2022 by the Golf Channel, thanks to her great deal of high-level junior golf experience.
Â
Putrino racked up plenty of accomplishments while playing junior golf in Florida, highlighted by an individual title at the 2021 Dustin Johnson World Junior Golf Championship and a fifth-place finish at the 2022 Florida Women's Open.
Â
She earned five top-10 finishes in the American Junior Golf Association Tour, including a pair of top-5 performances at the 2021 AJGA Junior Championship and 2021 Girls Junior PGA Championship. Furthermore, Putrino was the first player ever to win the championships in all three Florida Junior Tours (ages 12 and under, 13-15, and 16-18).
Â
Putrino is originally from Lakewood Ranch, Fla. and graduated from Riverview High School in 2022, where she earned two individual state championships and helped lead Riverview to a team state championship in 2020.
