Miyamoto Advances To Finals At Big 12 Invite

STILLWATER – Ayumi Miyamoto of the Oklahoma State women's tennis team advanced to the championship match at the Big 12 Fall Invite at the Greenwood Tennis Center on Saturday.
The morning started with doubles where Sofia Rojas and Amber Hochstatter defeated the Oklahoma duo of Dana Guzman and Emma Staker, 7-5, in the consolation bracket.
Alana Wolfberg and Raquel Gonzalez fell to Baylor's Paula Baranano and Alina Schcherbinina, 6-2, while No. 4 Anna Supapitch Kuearum and Thasaporn Naklo of Iowa State defeated Kristina Novak and Miyamoto, 7-6 (1).
In the singles quarterfinals match, Miyamoto bested Rozalia Gruszczynska of Kansas State, 6-4, 6-3, before picking up a dominating, 6-0, 6-1, victory over Oklahoma's Romana Cisovska to advance to tomorrow's finals.
In singles, Rojas took down Baylor's Lyubov Kostenko, 6-1, 6-1, but later lost to Alexandra Pisareva of Oklahoma, 6-3, 6-3. Gonzalez picked up two commanding victories on the day as she defeated No. 3 Ivana Corley of Oklahoma, 7-5, 6-3, and No. 4 Olivia Peet of Texas Tech, 7-5, 7-5.
Novak won both her consolation singles matches as she beat Alina Shcherbinina from Baylor, 7-6 (6), 6-3, and took down Kansas State's Florentine Dekkers, 6-2, 7-5.
Alana dropped her first match, 1-6, 6-3, 1-6, versus Baylor's Anita Sahdiieva (BU), but bounced back and earned the Cowgirl's ninth win of the day as she bested Ivana Corely (OU), 7-5, 7-6 (5). Hochstatter fell to Texas Tech's Camryn Stepp, 6-2, 6-1.
