Cowboy Cross Country Remains in Top 5 of Coaches Poll
October 04, 2022 | Cowboy Cross Country & Track
STILLWATER – Oklahoma State men's and women's cross country both remained inside the top 5 of the latest U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) National Coaches Poll, the organization announced Tuesday.
The Cowboys held steady at No. 4 and have been ranked inside the top four in all five weekly polls thus far. Each of the teams ranked in the top five this week competed at the Cowboy Jamboree and are ranked in order of their finishes at the Jamboree. OSU also remains in the top spot of the Midwest Regional rankings, holding down the No. 1 ranking ahead of in-state foe Tulsa. The top two finishing teams at each regional meet qualify automatically for the NCAA Cross Country Championships, which will be held at the Greiner Family OSU Cross Country Course in Stillwater on Saturday, Nov. 19.
On the women's side, the Cowgirls moved one spot to No. 3 behind reigning national champions NC State and New Mexico. They won the Cowboy Jamboree on Sept. 24 by 19 points over fourth-ranked NAU, with Natalie Cook and Taylor Roe taking the top two spots on the podium. The Cowgirls also remained in the top spot in the Midwest Regional rankings for the fifth consecutive week.
The Cowboys and Cowgirls return to the course on Saturday, Oct. 15, for the Weis-Crockett Invitational in Stillwater.
