Billah Jepkirui Wins Weis-Crockett Invitational as OSU Cross Country Rounds out Regular Season

STILLWATERย โ Highlighted by first-place finisher Billah Jepkirui, Oklahoma State Cowgirl Cross Country recorded a second-place team finish while the Cowboys placed eighth on Saturday at the Weis-Crockett Invitational at the Greiner Family OSU Cross Country Course.ย

In the women's 6k, Jepkirui led the field from wire-to-wire and came across the line in 20:15.3, the sixth-fastest time in course history.ย ย

"I'm really excited for Billah, I think that was a fantastic race," Director of Track & Field and Cross Country Dave Smith said. "You know she's getting better every week and I think as we go through the rest of the season, she's going to keep moving up."
Rounding out the scorers for the Cowgirls were Stephanie Moss, Sivan Auerbach, Heidi Demeo and Taylor Somers, with finishes of 9th, 18th, 26thย and 29th, respectively, as the Cowgirls scored 76 points overall.ย

In the men's 8k, Ryan Schoppe led the way, finishing seventh overall with a time of 23:39.8, the ninth-fastest time in Oklahoma State program history.ย

"We still have three or four pieces we haven't run," Smith said. "I think they all could be in our top five. We're still trying to overcome a couple of injuries right now and waiting to bring a couple guys back for the post season.ย

Will Muirhead's 12th-place finish gave the Cowboys two finishers inside the top 15 as they head into postseason action.ย
