Avery Anderson And Moussa Cisse Earn Preseason Conference Honors
October 12, 2022 | Cowboy Basketball
STILLWATER, Okla. ---- Oklahoma State's Avery Anderson III was named a Preseason All-Big 12 selection by the league's coaches, the conference announced Wednesday. Moussa Cisse was named Honorable Mention.
All six players on the Preseason All-Big 12 Team were named to All-Big 12 Teams last season as Baylor's Adam Flagler, TCU's Mike Miles and Texas' Timmy Allen were second team selections while Kansas' Jalen Wilson, Anderson and Texas' Marcus Carr were on the third team.
Â
Anderson is just the 14th Cowboy to earn a spot on the Preseason All-Big 12 squad, and the first since Cade Cunningham in 2020. A senior from Justin, Texas, he started all 18 conference games last season for the Cowboys.
Â
In those contests, he averaged 30.1 minutes and 11.9 points to go along with his 3.5 rebounds. He shot 36.8 percent from the field.
Â
For Cisse, he was named the Big 12 Defensive Player of the Year last season alongside Baylor's Jonathan Tchamwa Tchatchoua and West Virginia's Gabe Osabuohien.
Â
Cisse became just the second Cowboy in conference history, alongside two-time selection Marcus Dove (2007 and 2008), to be picked as the Big 12 Defensive Player of the Year. It was the first time in league history the honor has been shared.
In his first year at OSU, Cisse was the Big 12's top shot-blocker with 54 for an average of 1.86 per game. He finished sixth in the conference with 6.52 rebounds and also averaged 7.2 points while connecting on 55.9 percent of his field goal attempts.
Â
