Cowgirl Tennis Dominates First Day of West Texas Pro Tennis Open

LUBBOCK, Texas — Representing the Oklahoma State women's tennis team, Ayumi Miyamoto, Mhai Sawangkaew and Oona Orpana all opened play at the West Texas Pro Tennis Open in impressive fashion on Tuesday.
The day started with singles play where Miyamoto defeated Tamara Baraditzhaki, 6-3, 3-6, 6-4. After falling behind 3-0 in set three, she battled back to advance.
Orpana routed former first-team All-Big 12 selection, Melany Solange Krywoj of Baylor, in straight sets, 6-4, 6-3.
In doubles action, Miyamoto and Sawangkaew teamed up and dominated Margarita Skryabing and Metka Komac, 6-3, 6-4.
Orpana played with Syracuse's Viktoryia Kanapatskaya to defeat Vivien Sandberg and Jillian Louise Roa in straight sets, 6-4, 6-4. Both duos advanced to tomorrow's quarterfinals.
The Cowgirls will be back in action tomorrow with Sawangkaew facing Oklahoma's Carmen Corley in singles to start the day off. Miyamoto and Sawangkaew will take on the pre-season top-ranked doubles duo in the nation, Oklahoma's Ivana and Carmen Corley and Orpana/Kanapatskaya will face Kelly Williford and Maria Kononova.
