Cowgirl Equestrian Ranked No. 4 In Preseason Polls

STILLWATER - The Oklahoma State Equestrian team earned a No. 4 ranking in the National Collegiate Equestrian Association preseason poll, which marked four-straight years of preseason top-five rankings for the Cowgirls.

This marks the program's seventh consecutive year in the preseason top 10 and is the third-straight year that the Cowgirls were No. 4 in the rankings.

OSU head coach Larry Sanchez and the Cowgirls are coming off an impressive 7-2 record in 2020-21, capturing a Big 12 Conference championship and advancing to the semifinals of the NCEA National Championship. OSU returns second-team All-Americans Emma Pacyna and Abigail Brayman, as well as honorable mentions Katie Pelzel and JoJo Roberson from that team.

Along with OSU, Big 12 teams TCU, Fresno State and Baylor are ranked sixth, seventh and eighth, respectively, in the preseason poll.

The Cowgirls open their season October 8 in Waco, Texas against No. 8 Baylor. OSU was victorious in its last matchup against the Bears in the Big 12 Championship semifinals last year, winning 12-8.
