Cowgirls In First Place Heading Into Final Round

Oklahoma State in search of the program's 100th win in program history
DENTON, TEXAS ---- No. 3 Oklahoma State women's golf opened its fall portion of the 2021-22 schedule on Monday, posting a 280 and 277 in the opening two rounds of the Sam Golden Invitational at the Wildhorse Golf Club to finish the day in first place. OSU shot a combined 557, the third-lowest 36-hole score in school history.
Sitting at 19-under, the Cowgirls will take the par-72, 6,288-yard course for the final round tomorrow morning with a one-stroke lead over Texas Tech and are three strokes ahead of in-state rival Oklahoma.
Individually, Caley McGinty paced OSU with two rounds of 67 to take a one-stroke lead over the field at 10-under heading into the final round in her first appearance at Oklahoma State. Shooting a 134, she finished the day tied for the third-best 36-hole score in program history.
Isabella Fierro was just behind at 9-under. She finished tied for second with rounds of 68 and 67.
"We saw a lot of solid golf in our first two rounds of the year," head coach Greg Robertson said. "Caley and Isabella did a great job of leading the way. We're looking forward to a competitive day tomorrow with some good teams in contention."
Maddison Hinson-Tolchard and Rina Tatematsu both finished the day tied for 31st. Hinson-Tolchard started her year with a pair of 72s while Tatematsu posted a 73 and 71 to finish with a 36-hole score of 144.
Clemence Martin rounded out the OSU starting lineup tied for 41st after shooting a 74 and 72.
Competing individually, Lianna Bailey finished tied for 38th with an opening round of 71 and a 74 to close the day.
