Fierro, Stark Earn CoSIDA Academic All-District First Team Honors

STILLWATER – Oklahoma State All-Americans Isabella Fierro and Maja Stark were among eight Division I golfers nationwide to earn a spot on the CoSIDA Academic All-District At-Large First Team, which makes the Cowgirl duo eligible for Academic All-America consideration.
Fierro and Stark were among a school-record five Cowgirls to earn Women's Golf Coaches Association All-American Scholar honors, and were essential in OSU's run to the NCAA Championship finals in May.
Recently nominated for Big 12 Athlete of the Year and Big 12 Sportsperson of the Year, Stark is a Pre-Psychology major with a perfect 4.0 GPA. The Abbekas, Sweden native was a 2021 ANNIKA Award finalist and a 2021 WGCA first-team All-American. She set a program record with a stroke average of 70.48 (-1.42 to par), finished the year ranked No. 4 nationally by GolfStat and went 49-2 in head-to-head competition again top-100 players in the country.
The two-time event winner recorded more birdies (139) and rounds of par or better (22) than any player in school history, and her par-3 (2.99) and par-4 (3.99) scoring averages set new school records as well.
Fierro is studying Agricultural Leadership with a 3.83 GPA. The Merida, Mexico native was an honorable mention All-American as a freshman in 2020, and took her game to new heights as a sophomore. Her scoring average of 71.23 (-0.48 to par) is the third best mark in program history, just ahead of her freshman campaign of 71.76 (-0.24 to par), and her career scoring average is the best ever by a Cowgirl at 71.44 (-0.38 to par).
At her best in the year's biggest moments, Fierro carded a 7-under 65 in the second round of the Big 12 Championships, which broke the event's all-time scoring record. She finished the tournament in a tie for sixth to earn her first All-Big 12 Championship squad selection.
CoSIDA, the Collegiate Sports Information Directors Association, has been honoring outstanding academic and athletic achievement by student-athletes throughout the landscape of college sports since 1952. The At-Large teams recognize student-athletes in golf, gymnastics, tennis, crew, swimming & diving, rifle, fencing, bowling, water polo, hockey, lacrosse and several other sports.
