THE BASICS
As the NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championship inches closer, a majority of Oklahoma State's track and field athletes have one more test ahead, one final competition between them and a trip to Eugene, Oregon: the NCAA West Preliminary Championship, hosted by Texas A&M at EB Cushing Stadium in College Station, Texas, on May 26-29.
Among the best talent in the NCAA's DI West Region, OSU will compete to qualify as many of its athletes as possible to the national meet. Only the top 12 individuals and relays advance, and Oklahoma State figures to be well represented in the nationally qualified group when it's all said and done.
IN THE POLLS
Following the nation-wide conference championship period, the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) has ranked the Cowgirls fourth in the Midwest Region while the Cowboys hold steady in the top-10 of the Midwest currently ranked eighth.
LAST TIME OUT
In last weekend's outdoor action, the Pokes opened up their postseason with a trip to Manhattan, Kansas for the Big 12 Outdoor Championship. The Pokes' most notable performances included:

- A 87.5-point team score for the fourth-place Cowgirls, the most ever for the program at the outdoor conference meet.
- Major point scoring performances for runners-up Saara Hakanen, Sivan Auerbach, Ryan Smeeton, Ryan Schoppe, Molly Born, Stephanie Moss and Gabby Hentemann.
