Cowgirl Golf Within Striking Distance After 18 Holes At NCAA Championships

SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. – The Oklahoma State women's golf team battled gusty conditions at Grayhawk Golf Club, but are just eight strokes off the lead after 18 holes at the NCAA Championships.
The Cowgirls finished the day 9-over 297 and in 10th place. OSU raced up the leaderboard on the back nine, but gave six shots back on the final two holes of the day.
Texas is currently atop the leaderboard after a 1-over 289, while Stanford's Rachel Heck is the individual leader after an opening round 69. The field will be cut to 12 teams after 54-holes.
Maddison Hinson-Tolchard recorded the lowest score of the day for the Cowgirls. The freshman notched an even-par 72 and will enter Saturday's second round tied for 5th place.
Lianna Bailey finished the first round in a tie for 38th at 2-over 74 with three birdies on the front nine holes.
Isabella Fierro and Rina Tatematsu finished at 3-over and 4-over respectively. Maja Stark ended the day in a tie for 96th at 6-over 78.
