Cowgirls Lead Conference with 15 Academic All-Big 12 Team Honorees

STILLWATER — The Oklahoma State softball team had 15 Cowgirls earn Academic All-Big 12 honors this season, with 13 of them being first-team nominees, it was announced today.
Oklahoma State's 15 total selections are the most ever by softball team in Big 12 Conference history. The previous record was Texas Tech with 13 in 2020.
OSU's 13 first-team selections are tied for the most ever by a softball team in Big 12 Conference history, matching Kansas from this season. The previous record was set by Texas Tech with 12 in 2020.
Oklahoma State's 15 selections this season lead the conference, the third consecutive season the Cowgirls have led the league in Academic All-Big 12 honorees.
First-team honorees include Chelsea Alexander, Hayley Busby, Jules Callaham, Maci Cunconan, Carrie Eberle, Chyenne Factor, Kelly Maxwell, Sydney Pennington, Karli Petty, Michaela Richbourg, Logan Simunek, Gabby Sprang and Taylor Tuck. Alysen Febrey and Kiley Naomi were named to the second team.
Alexander, Callaham, Cunconan and Eberle made the team with a perfect 4.0 GPA.
The four Cowgirls with a 4.0 GPA are the most ever by a softball team in Big 12 Conference history.
Since head coach Kenny Gajewski has taken over the helm at OSU in 2015, the Cowgirls have had sixty-eight players earn Academic All-Big 12 honors, including sixty first-team selections which leads the Big 12 during that span.
First team members consist of those who have maintained a 3.20 or better GPA while the second team selections hold a 3.00 to 3.19 GPA.
To qualify, student-athletes must maintain a 3.00 GPA or higher either cumulative or the two previous semesters. Freshmen and transfers are not eligible in their first year of academic residence. Senior student-athletes who have participated for a minimum of two years and meet all the criteria except percent of participation are also eligible.
