Eberle Headlines Big 12 Honors, Four Named to All-Big 12 First Team
May 12, 2021 | Cowgirl Softball
STILLWATER — The Big 12 announced its annual conference honors today, and the Oklahoma State softball team was well-represented.
Cowgirl ace Carrie Eberle headlined the awards, winning Big 12 Pitcher of the Year and being named to the All-Big 12 first team, both of which were unanimous selections.
Eberle has dominated in the circle this season, racking up 19 wins. She enters the postseason with a 1.06 earned run average. The 2020 All-American led the Big 12 in wins (19), shutouts (6), and complete games (15) in the 2021 regular season.
Joining Eberle on the All-Big 12 first team are Kelly Maxwell (a unanimous selection), Hayley Busby, and Kiley Naomi.
Maxwell held a 5-1 record in Big 12 play and conference opponents hit just .191 against her. The redshirt sophomore has struck out 123 batters in 94.1 innings pitched this season and owns a 0.83 WHIP.
Naomi was the second-leading hitter (.365 average) in OSU's lineup during conference play and leads OSU with 15 stolen bases this season. The junior from Louisiana plays at an elite level at shortstop and has started all but one game this season.
Busby leads the Cowgirls with 16 home runs, which is second all-time on the OSU single-season home runs list. She also paces the team in slugging percentage (.852) and OPS (1.285) this season.
The All-Big 12 second team includes Chelsea Alexander, Chyenne Factor, and Alysen Febrey.
Alexander led the Cowgirl offense in Big 12 play with a .410 batting average, .521 on base percentage, and five stolen bases on six attempts.
Factor has been a staple in the Cowgirl lineup, starting every game of the season in center field. She has steadily hit in the two-hole for OSU during conference play and has committed just one error all season.
Febrey has started every game this season for the Cowgirls and hit .322 in conference play. She has 14 home runs on the season, which is tied for third in the OSU record books for single season home runs.
