Cowgirls Sweep The Shockers In Weekend Opener

STILLWATER, Okla. — Oklahoma State's women's tennis team snapped its two-match losing streak on Friday with a 4-0 victory over Wichita State inside the Greenwood Tennis Center.
Double's play began with Wichita State's Sarvinoz Saidhujaeva and Marta Bellucco defeating Lena Stara and Alana Wolfberg, 6-3. The Cowgirls struck back quickly with Bunyawi Thamchaiwat and Daniella Medvedeva's 6-4 defeat of Alexandra Lazarova and Natsumi Kurahashi. The doubles point went the way of OSU after Dariya Detkovskaya and Ayumi Miyamoto knocked off the Shocker duo of Ting Ya Hsu and Jessie Zheng, 6-4.
The Cowgirls carried their momentum into singles play with Bunyawi Thamchaiwat's dominating, 6-0, 6-2 victory over Wichita State's Sarvinoz Saidhujaeva to extend the lead to 2-0.
Lenka Stara quickly followed with a victory over Shocker Jessie Zheng, 6-0, 6-3. Ayumi Miyamoto defeated Wichita State's Ting Ya Hsu, 6-4, 6-1, for the match-clinching point.
Dariya Detkovskaya took the first set and was trailing in the second set when her match was called. Daniella Medvedeva was up, 7-6, 1-0, and Alana Wolfberg led, 6-4, 3-2 when their matches were called.
The Cowgirls will be back in action at the Greenwood Tennis Center Sunday against Iowa State at 11 a.m.
