Cowgirl Equestrian Riders Earn Big 12 Academic Honors

IRVING, Texas – Oklahoma State Equestrian had 21 student-athletes recognized on the 2021 Academic All-Big 12 Equestrian Team.
The Cowgirls' 21 selections were the second most in the conference behind Baylor's 30. TCU and affiliate member Fresno State each had 13.
Seven out of the nine student-athletes nominated with 4.00 grade point averages were Cowgirls, with OSU's Sydnee Gemar, Stephanie Gripp, Stephanie Helsen, Hope King, Caroline Nielson, JoJo Roberson and Katie Schell making that list.
The Cowgirls placed 17 on the Academic All-Big 12 First Team. The list includes Gemar, Gripp, Helsen, King, Nielson, Roberson and Schell along with Anna Baird, Megan Donald, Kinsey Jones, Kalin Koechel, Hannah Lovrien, Molly Mitchell, Sydney North, Emma Pacyna, Katie Pelzel and Sydnie Ziegler.
Cowgirls Abigail Brayman, Hannah Coleman, Harley Huff and Cassidy Watters were named to the Academic All-Big 12 Second Team.
First-team members consist of those who have maintained a 3.20 or better GPA, while the second team selections hold a 3.00 to 3.19 GPA. To qualify, student-athletes must maintain a 3.00 GPA or higher either cumulative or the two previous semesters and must have participated in 20 percent of their team's scheduled contests. Freshmen and transfers are not eligible in their first year of academic residence. Senior student-athletes who have participated for a minimum of two years and meet all the criteria except percent of participation are also eligible.
