The Basics
The Oklahoma State women's tennis team (7-10 overall; 1-4 Big 12) is set for a weekend doubleheader starting with a non-conference matchup with Wichita State (9-13 overall; 0-3 AAC) followed by a conference matchup against Iowa State (12-4 overall; 4-2 Big 12). The Cowgirls and Shockers square off at 5 p.m. (CST) on April 9 in Stillwater, Okla. Two days later, OSU will host Iowa State at 11 a.m. (CST) in Stillwater.

The ITA has decided to "pause" the publishing of ITA Computer Singles and Doubles Rankings for the week of April 5th as the staff and coach governance committees continue to review the best path forward for providing coaches, players, and fans the most accurate collegiate singles and doubles rankings. Series History
Oklahoma State holds a 25-4 all-time record against the Shockers and is 14-0 in Stillwater. OSU holds a 43-0 all-time record against Iowa State and is 19-0 in Stillwater. The last time OSU played Wichita State was last season when the Cowgirls defeated the Shockers, 6-1. The last time OSU faced Iowa State dates back in the 2018-19 season when the Cowgirl swept Cyclones, 7-0.

Oklahoma State from a Distance
Oklahoma State is 7-10 and battle-tested as they continue this season, having faced eight top-25 opponents this season. OSU began the season with back-to-back victories over Missouri. The Cowgirls dropped three straight when they returned to action short-handed at the ITA Indoor National Championships due to Covid-19 contact tracing and return protocol. Following the Indoor Championships, OSU earned three consecutive victories before losing a pair of matches to Pepperdine and USC. The Cowgirls dropped its first three conference matches against No. 2 Texas and No. 11 Baylor, each 6-1. Next, OSU fell to Texas Tech, 4-3, in a match that came down to a third-set tiebreaker on court six. The Cowgirls responded to a slow start in conference play by sweeping TCU, 7-0, to earn the first conference win of the season and win number 200 for head coach Chris Young at OSU. Last weekend OSU dropped two straight, with the first at the hands of Oklahoma, 4-0, earning the Sooners its first Bedlam win since 2014. A day later OSU would drop a hard-fought match vs. UCF, 4-2. The biggest storyline has been the emergence of Bunyawi Thamchaiwat who leads OSU on court one in singles action, holding an 8-2 record and having been defeated only twice in the last two seasons.
