Cowgirl Softball Ready for Showdown with Longhorns

The Basics
      Winners of four straight conference series, the No. 11/9 Oklahoma State softball team (36-6 overall) heads to Austin this weekend to take on the No. 7/12 Texas Longhorns (35-6) in a three-game series. The first game is set for 4:30 p.m. CT on April 30. Â

Oklahoma State from a Distance
     At 36-6, Oklahoma State has 12 run-rule victories this season and is outscoring opponents, 268-87. OSU joins UCLA, Oklahoma, Arizona, Long Beach State, and James Madison as the only six squads who rank in the top 20 nationally in both team batting average and team earned run average.     The Cowgirl pitching staff is led by All-American Carrie Eberle and redshirt sophomore Kelly Maxwell. The duo sports a combined 29-3 record this season. Senior Logan Simunek has logged meaningful innings in the circle as the first pitcher in relief.Â
     Offensively, Oklahoma State is led by Hayley Busby (.409 batting average with 14 home runs and an .864 slugging percentage), All-American Alysen Febrey (.397 batting average with 12 home runs and 43 runs batted in), and Chelsea Alexander (.421 batting average and a perfect 12-for-12 on stolen base attempts).Â
