Cowgirl Golf Earns No. 2 Seed At NCAA Stanford Regional
April 28, 2021 | Cowgirl Golf
STILLWATER – The road to the NCAA Championships will go through California for the Oklahoma State women's golf team. The Cowgirls earned the No. 2 seed at the Stanford Regional, which will take place May 10-12 at Stanford Golf Course.
OSU is making its 27th NCAA Regional appearance and the first under head coach Greg Robertson. The Cowgirls are looking to advance to the NCAA Championships for the 22nd time in program history, and for the first time since 2016.
The low six teams and the low three individuals not on those teams at each of the four NCAA Regional sites (for a total of 24 teams and 12 individuals) will advance to the NCAA National Championship in Scottsdale, Arizona on May 21-26.
OSU finished their regular season with five team titles in addition to five individual titles. The 2021 Big 12 Champions were listed at No. 4 in GolfWeek's national spring rankings prior to the NCAA Regional selection announcement.
The Cowgirls have a rich history at the Stanford Golf Course over the years. Oklahoma State finished third at the 1982 and 1989 NCAA Championships held on that course, and OSU won the 1988 Stanford Intercollegiate. In fact, the lowest round in school history was carded at Stanford – a 64 by Amy Ruengmateekhun in 2011.
Oklahoma State earned the highest seed of the seven Big 12 teams selected. Baylor earned a No. 3 seed, Texas was at No. 4, Texas Tech was a 6-seed, Iowa State and Oklahoma are No. 9 seeds and TCU will play on the No. 7 line.
This year's other NCAA Regional sites include Baton Rouge, Louisiana (University Club), Columbus, Ohio (OSU Golf Club), Louisville, Kentucky (University of Louisville Golf Club) and Stanford, California (Stanford Golf Club).
