Cowgirls Fall In Big 12 Quarterfinals

WACO, TEXAS- Oklahoma State's women's tennis team was defeated by No. 23 Oklahoma Friday night, 4-0, at the Hurd Tennis Center in the quarterfinal round of the Big 12 Championship. Â
With the loss, the Cowgirls fall to 11-11 on the year. Â
The Sooners took the doubles point after Carmen and Ivana Corley defeated Lenka Stara and Alana Wolfberg, 6-2, followed by Bunyawi Thamchaiwat and Daniella Medvedeva falling to Dana Guzman and Kianah Motosono, 6-1. Ayumi Miyamoto and Dariya Detkovskaya were trailing, 5-2, when their match was called. Â
Oklahoma won the first three singles matches starting with Dana Guzman taking down Alana Wolfberg, 6-2, 6-2, followed by Martina Cappuro defeating Dariya Detkovskaya, 6-2, 6-4. Ivana Corley beat Ayumi Miyamoto, 6-2, 7-5, for the match-clinching point. Â
Bunyawi Thamchaiwat was down 5-1 and battled back to take set one, 7-6, before her match was called. After dropping set one against Oklahoma's Marcelina Podlinska, Daniella Medvedeva won six-straight games in set two and was trailing 1-6, 6-0, 1-3 in set three when her match was stopped. Lenka Stara was on a roll when her match was stopped, leading 7-6, 3-1.Â
